FEBRUARY 2006

A group of 14 children arrived with their group leader Ludmila from villages in the western part of Belarus
near Brest. Apart from all the usual activities in a very full timetable there were highlights which were a very special.
The first was a ‘Noson Lawen’ evening at Hermon chapel where our children were entertained to traditional Welsh
singing and some splendid tap dancing and harp playing. In return the children themselves sang some traditional Belarusian
songs and we ended with a rendition of our respective National Anthems. Altogether it was a wonderful cross-cultural
evening and was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.
Secondly, it is becoming a tradition now for our children in February to attend the St David’s day ‘Twmpath’ in St Nicholas,
a traditional supper of soup and bread followed by some vigorous dancing in which the children are involved. The
pleasure with which they participated was evident for all to see and our thanks go to the Village Hall committee who
so kindly hosted us. You must watch the video.  See below!
